REST IN PEACE

LOU SCHEIMER (October 19, 1928 October 17, 2013)

American Animation lost it's only true star, he will be missed

We have also lost Hal Sutherland who passed away in his sleep on January 16th 2014. Hal was brought out of retirement back in 1982 to help get He-Man up and running... so obviously he did a good job.

The desk I'm sitting at in the picture above is in my home art studio shown below as well as the lamp & shelves. Yes, that is a "Centerfield" poster of John Fogerty from Creedence Clearwater fame on the Cubicle wall. He was and is one of my favorite musicians. I saw him with Creedence in 1969 at the Newport '69 three day concert just prior to Woodstock, in 1971 at the Forum and 41 years later in Spokane in 2012.

These are some of the people I have worked with and or look up to:

Jack "King" Kirby - If you have to ask...

Stan Lee - Without him Super Heroes would be dead! Lennon/McCartney = Lee/Kirby

Steve Ditko - Spiderman is my favorite superhero and nobody drew him like Ditko

John Romita Sr - Taking over for Ditko must have been tough but he did it without missing a beat!

Don Rico - Golden Age Comic Book Artist/H-B Storyboard artist responsible for my career in Animation

Dave Tendlar - Sequence director on my favorite Animated film "Hoppity Goes to Town"

Bob Clampett - In my opinion the best and funniest director at Warner Brothers

Bruce Timm - For doing what I suggested long ago, simplify the design of the super Hero characters so   they are easier to animate! Make them more like the Fleischer Superman Cartoons... Well Done!!!!

Lou Scheimer - Head of Filmation, He kept the work in the U.S. and refused to send it overseas

Marilyn Monroe - If you have to ask... ;)

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy!!

Original comic book art has been my passion for decades

now but the lack of real quality covers, splash and panel pages left me frustrated. When I found a really good cover it was always way out of my price range. Many of the great classic covers of the early ´60s were destroyed and even if they did exist they would cost tens of thousands of dollars.

I have been  a professional animator for the past 25 years and worked on many TV series such as He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, She-Ra Princess of Power, Thundarr the Barbarian, SuperFriends, Blackstar, Scooby Doo and the Flintstones to name a few. Being an artist myself, I took matters into my own hands and decided to recreate some of my favorite comic book art covers. My first cover was AMAZING FANTASY #15 and it turned out great... You had to look twice to see that it wasn't an original except that was was very clean. A friend of mine saw the cover and couldn't believe his eyes and he asked if I could make him one... I did and he loved it!!! That is how I got started.

I have now drawn more than 200 comic book art recreations and every buyer has been thrilled with my ability to be able to come as close as possible to the style of the original artist. My clients have had impeccable taste in the choices they make and it is always fun to create a "CUSTOM" cover using their favorite heroes.
