SUPERFRIENDS

This show was the main reason I was hired as an assistant animator at Hanna-Barbera (listen to the PKD Blackbox interview for further details). There were plenty of artists that could draw the cartoony features of Scooby Doo or the Flintstones but they were having difficulty finding artists that could handle realistic human features such as the heroes and villains in this show. When I showed my portfolio, which was filled with drawings of superheroes, to Harry Love (hiring and training department) he took it right to Joe Barbera and I was offered a spot in the training program and within a month I was hired out of the program as an assistant animator.
